At the end of the season, linebacker Vi Jones -- just acquired by the Cardinals -- noted that his new team "need those Jones boys."
That was a reference to him and his older brother Zay, with whom Vi had joined on the roster but who was headed to free agency.
Zay Jones didn't make it to market, however. The Cardinals kept the Jones boys after Zay agreed to a one-year contract extension on Tuesday worth a reported $4.4 million.
Jones made a limited impact for the Cardinals last season, making eight receptions for 84 yards in 11 games, after sitting the first five games of the season with an NFL suspension. But he for now is the one veteran of the wide receivers room as he heads into his eighth season, some depth in case of injury and a chance to play a full season in the offense.
The Cardinals still will likely seek some kind of speed at wide receiver. They do have second-year man Xavier Weaver, but Greg Dortch is currently headed into free agency. Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson remain the top two receivers for now; the Cardinals also signed veteran Quez Watkins, a former Eagle, earlier this season.
Zay Jones becomes the sixth Cardinal to return before free agency, joining long snapper Aaron Brewer, safety Joey Blount, outside linebacker Baron Browning, and offensive linemen Evan Brown and Kelvin Beachum.
