Darius Robinson isn't the only rookie defender that could come back this season to help the Cardinals.
The team designated third-round cornerback Elijah Jones to return from Injured Reserve on Thursday, opening his 21-day practice window.
Jones hurt his ankle in the preseason finale at Denver, and was put on IR Aug. 29. He would have to be activated to the 53-man roster by Dec. 26 or remain on IR for the balance of the season -- although he can be put on the roster at any point beforehand.
"(I've learned) to flow with the ebbs and flows," Jones said. "Throughout the whole time I've tried to stay locked in even though you can feel a little disconnected and tried to stick the gameplan and support your teammates, whether that was on the sideline or at practice.
"You do as much as you can with the role you have."
The Cardinals are down to five regular-season games remaining: the Seahawks and Patriots at home, road trips to the Panthers and Rams, and then a home game against the 49ers. The Rams and 49ers games come after Dec. 26.
Jones was the fourth and final of the Cardinals' four third-round picks this season, the 90th selection overall. The Cardinals also got running back Trey Benson, guard Isaiah Adams and tight end Tip Reiman in the third round.
The 6-foot-2, 184-pound Jones is a long defensive back whose reputation is similar to fellow cornerback Garrett Williams -- himself a third-round pick -- when it comes to preparation.
