Football is never far away.
The Cardinals are in the middle of working the annual Scouting combine, in the process of narrowing down choices in the draft. The rest of the offseason events, including the on-field work that will prep them for 2017 training camp, will unfurl quickly.
It starts this week, when free agency officially begins on Thursday, March 9. From there:
March 26-29: NFL Owners Meetings at the Arizona Biltmore.
April 17: Phase One of the offseason program, which includes strength and conditioning. It is voluntary work.
Mid-April: Announcement of 2017 NFL schedule.
April 27-29: NFL draft (including the Cardinals Draft Party & Spring Tailgate at University of Phoenix Stadium.
May 1: Phase Two of the offseason program, which includes some field work without helmets. It is voluntary work.
May 12-14: Rookie minicamp, which is mandatory.
May 16-18: Organized Team Activities with the full team. All OTAs are voluntary.
May 23-25: Organized Team Activities with the full team (voluntary).
May 30-June 2: Organized Team Activities with the full team (voluntary).
June 6-8: Full team minicamp, which is mandatory.
The start of training camp is yet to be determined, but the Cardinals will start the preseason in the Hall of Fame game against the Dallas Cowboys in Canton, Ohio on Aug. 3. Camp will begin in mid July.
