After an impressive stint in the UFL, Chris Garrett earned himself another shot in the NFL.

The Cardinals signed the outside linebacker on Tuesday ahead of the preseason finale against the Broncos. The team also signed defensive tackle T.J. Carter.

To make room on the roster, long snapper Joe Shimko was released.

Garrett, the 2024 UFL Special Teams Player of the Year, worked out on Monday for the Cardinals. In 2021, the Rams drafted Garrett in the seventh round out of Concordia-St. Paul, a Division II school in Minnesota. Garrett appeared in one regular season game during the Rams' Super Bowl winning season.

Garrett now joins cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting and long snapper Aaron Brewer as the only Cardinals on the roster to have a Super Bowl victory on their resume.

Considering how frequently the Cardinals rotate their players on the defense, Garrett and Carter should have an opportunity to potentially see some playing time.

Carter has some familiarity with the Cardinals organization. After going undrafted in 2020, the Cardinals signed the defensive tackle as an undrafted free agent. Having not made the roster that season, Carter has bounced around on different practice squads and XFL and UFL rosters since then.

He made his NFL debut for the Rams in 2022.
