Since becoming a head coach, Jonathan Gannon has openly acknowledged the value and importance of having quality players on the practice squad.
The Cardinals officially added new pieces on Wednesday, signing outside linebacker Ronnie Perkins, cornerback Keion Crossen and offensive lineman Nick Leverett to the practice squad.
Perkins, a one-time teammate of Kyler Murray's at Oklahoma, has played in seven games in the NFL, all last season in Denver. Perkins had 13 tackles, and a pair of tackles for loss to go with a quarterback hit. He was drafted in 2021 in the third round, but spent his rookie season on injured reserve, followed by an entire season on the Patriots practice squad in 2022.
A little over a month ago, the Cardinals signed Julian Okwara to their practice squad before bringing the outside linebacker on to the 53-man roster.
Crossen missed all of 2023 with a shoulder injury. The cornerback, who has also played special teams during his time with the Patriots, Texans, and Dolphins since he entered the league in 2018, has six starts and 118 tackles under his belt.
Leverett was released by the Patriots earlier this week after playing in five games for New England. The interior lineman came into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020 with Tampa Bay.
