Defensive lineman Darius Robinson, here arriving for a game at State Farm Stadium earlier this season, will have his practice window opened as he remains on IR.

The countdown has begun for help to the Cardinals' defensive line.

Coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday that the Cardinals will be opening the practice window for rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson this week, allowing the first-round pick to work with his teammates for the first time since suffering a calf injury in practice right before the season started.

Gannon said he wants to see Robinson "just move around and play football."

The return-to-play designation will likely be official Wednesday before practice.

Robinson remains on Injured Reserve. The Cards have three weeks within which to activate Robinson to the 53-man roster. That could be as early as Saturday before the Cardinals play the Packers in Green Bay.

Robinson had a fantastic training camp and was trending to be an impact player. He played 10 snaps in the preseason opener against the Saints and did so well that coach Jonathan Gannon grouped him with the players who did not play the final two preseason games to keep them healthy.

Unfortunately for Robinson, it didn't prevent the practice injury, sidelining him until now.

The Cardinals have already lost veteran defensive lineman Justin Jones for the season with a triceps injury.
