The Cardinals report to training camp in Flagstaff July 23.
Training camp, with new turf in the Walkup Skydome at NAU and a midweek reporting date, is coming to Flagstaff in five weeks.
The Cardinals officially released their training camp schedule Tuesday. Thanks to a Thursday night preseason opener -- nationally televised game on ESPN Aug. 7 against the New Orleans Saints at University of Phoenix Stadium – the team heads north July 23. Players undergo timed conditioning tests on July 24, with two practices on July 25 – a Friday.
The Cards will have a pair of afternoon practices that opening weekend beginning at 3:05 each day.
Other highlights from the 30-practice camp include a pair of 7 p.m. night practices at Lumberjack Stadium on July 30 and Aug. 13 and the special "Red and White" Saturday practice at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 2 which will be preceded by an autograph session.
As usual, fans can get autographs throughout camp after practices as players come off the field.
The team will travel for its second and third preseason games, going to Kansas City for a game Aug. 16 and Oakland for a game Aug. 23. Camp breaks in Flagstaff after a morning practice Aug. 21, with preseason practices resuming in Tempe.
With inclement weather, the practices will move indoors to the Skydome, where RealGrass Matrix turf should allow the team full workouts rather than the forced walkthroughs in the past because of the old, cement-like artificial turf.
Practice times are subject to change. Up-to-date information for camp can be found at azcardinals.com.
