Heading Into Round 2, Looking At What Cardinals Could Do

Team holds picks 47 and 78 in second, third rounds

Now that the Cardinals have a defensive lineman to round out a much-improved room, what is next in the draft? Here are some options a couple of hours before Monti Ossenfort is back on the clock.

  • Offensive line remains a likely option. Among the guards that are still on the board, either for 47 or perhaps falling to the mid-third, there is Arizona's Joseph Savaiinaea, Georgia's Tate Ratledge, LSU's Miles Frazier, or West Virginia's Wyatt Milum, among others. The tackle position has some dropoff as the players come off the board, but Minnesota's Aireontae Ersery, Boston College's Ozzy Trapilo or William & Mary's Charles Grant could be options.
  • Edge rusher was always a deep position, and there could be a run on them before the Cardinals' second-round pick. Marshall's Mike Green and Boston College's Donovan Ezeiruaku were considered possible first-rounders. There is a laundry list of guys who could contribute beyond them, including Texas A&M's Nic Scourton, Arkansas' Landon Jackson, Michigan's Josaiah Stewart, LSU's Bradyn Swinson, and Ole Miss' Princely Umanmielen.
  • Cornerback is interesting. Michigan's Will Johnson, who reportedly could have injury issues, has dropped. Injuries also might've dropped East Carolina's Shavon Revel Jr. and Notre Dame's Benjamin Morrison. Walter Nolen Ole Miss teammate Trey Amos is out there too, as is Iowa State's Darien Porter and Florida State's Azareye'h Thomas.
  • Wide receiver has some names left as well, among them: Missouri's Luther Burden III (although it seems unlikely he'd last until 47, some 14 picks away), as well as Iowa State's Jayden Higgins, Ole Miss' Tre Harris, Utah State's Jalen Royals and Washington State's Kyle Williams.

The second round starts at 4 p.m. Arizona time, 7 p.m. Eastern.
