LOS ANGELES -- Multiple national reports say James Conner will play Saturday night against the Rams, but the Cardinals will still elevate veteran Michael Carter from the practice squad for a second straight game.
The move also may portend doubt to the availability of rookie Trey Benson, who is dealing with an ankle injury.
The Cardinals also elevated veteran safety Andre Chachere from the practice squad with special teams star and safety Joey Blount out with a ribs injury.
Conner hurt his right knee against the Panthers last week, piling up 166 scrimmage yards before going out midway through the third quarter. Carter came in to essentially play RB1, gaining 18 yards on five carries and adding five catches for 30 yards.
The Cardinals also have special teams ace DeeJay Dallas available as the third running back -- or fourth if both Conner and Benson end up active.
Inactives lists for tonight's game, and the official determination of whether Conner plays, will come 90 minutes before kickoff, or 4:40 p.m. Arizona time.
