FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Cardinals are getting some help at linebacker.
The team activated inside linebacker Tanner Vallejo from Injured Reserve among a handful of moves prior to Sunday's key game in Dallas.
One move that did not happen: The Cardinals will not have Markus Golden, who remains on the Covid list.
The Cardinals brought up cornerback Kevin Peterson and defensive end Josh Mauro from the practice squad as Covid replacements -- the Cardinals still have four players on the Covid list -- and made tight end David Wells and cornerback Jace Whittaker standard practice squad elevations.
The Cardinals will be without Golden and Devon Kennard, two of the team's top three outside linebackers. Dennis Gardeck and rookie Zaven Collins are the top possibilities to help fill in with Golden and Kennard out.
Earlier in the week coach Kliff Kingsbury said it would be "close" if Golden could return and with new protocols, it was possible. But Golden had to be activated by Saturday for it to happen.
Peterson and Whittaker were needed with both Robert Alford and Marco Wilson injured at cornerback. Wells can fill in for the injured Demetrius Harris, while Mauro will help on a defensive line that is still missing the injured Jordan Phillips.
Vallejo had earned defensive snaps as the team's top backup inside linebacker when he went down with a knee injury against the Panthers in Week 10.
